What is Web Based Training?
|
Web based training is learning facilitated and supported through the use of information and communications technology.
E-learning can cover a spectrum of activities from supported learning, to blended learning (the combination of traditional
and e-learning practices), to learning that is entirely online. Whatever the technology, learning is the vital element.
E-Learning is no longer simply associated with distance or remote learning, but forms part of a conscious choice of the
best and most appropriate ways of promoting an effective learning environment based on your needs.
E-Learning can best be thought of comprising two parts:
1. Learning Management System (LMS)
2. Courses (sometimes referred to as modules)
Learning Management System (LMS)
The Learning Management System is at the heart of web based training and allows the opportunity for training to take place.
The LMS creates the look and feel when you go online and provides the tools needed to present the material, track students
using the material and gives the ability to use features such as Forums, Quizzes, Glossaries, Resources, Choices, Surveys,
Assignments, Chats, Workshops and Student Blogs.
The LMS also gives you the opportunity to create a community based learning environment which allows for enhanced learning and the ability for teacher and students to share information. Forums can be developed that create a library of information that students can use a search function to pull up relevant topics to help answer questions. The level of community interaction is controlled by the teacher to make sure correct information is shared.
Courses
Courses involve taking your training material and breaking them down into small sizable "chunks" of information,
making retention of the material easier and more permanent. This means taking even the most complex technical material
and breaking it into manageable chunks of instruction so that time and money spent on training are most effective.
Courses usually consist of approximately 15 pages per course. Each page presents one aspect of the course and can
include video, Flash, text, HTML or any other means available via the Internet that will create a compelling learning environment.
Conversion to class room training
When the Internet is not available or having a live instructor is most beneficial, we can convert the classes to DVD
(or even power point) to provide your instructors with consistent material to enhance their classroom training and
assure key points are covered.
Web based learning is very simple. Using technology to build on proven ways for people to learn. It's a process of
taking the tools you're currently using and combining them with proven methods of learning that create a cost effective
approach to learning/teaching that make the teaching process easier and the learning process more effective.
As a trainer/instructor, you know what works and we take your expertise and create a learning environment that
duplicates your success in your training
